Tour features
Four days sightseeing and camel safari tour from the red Imperial city of Marrakech to the Merzouga desert, gateway to the Sahara desert in South-Eastern Morocco. Merzouga is a small traditional village in South-Eastern Morocco, about 50 kilometers from the Algerian border and closest to Erg Chebbi, the Moroccan Sahara’s highest, largest and most famous postcard orange sand dune and on the best-selling bucket list of most tourists visiting Morocco. The photographic orange sand dunes with its palm oasis promise a magical night in the desert. A nearby village worth exploring is the Khamlia Village, home of the black North-African Berber tribe who are known as the Gnawa singers
Itinerary
Day one - Marrakech to Dades valley : After breakfast pick-up from your riad in Marrakech, cross the scenic Tizi n’Tichka High Atlas Mountain pass towards Ouarzazate for a traditional Moroccan lunch and mint tea with late afternoon arrival in Zagora through Agdz and the Draa Valley. Sunset 1.5 hour camel ride to desert camp, dinner with ethnic (traditional North-African) drumming, singing and dancing around the fire, overnight in authentic nomad Berber tents. Optional star-gazing or sleeping under the stars.
Day two - Dades Valley to Merzouga: : After breakfast depart to Merzouga desert and Erg Chebbi dunes through the Todgha Gorge, traditional Moroccan lunch on the way. At Merzouga start 1.5 hour sunset camel ride into the desert dunes with an experienced local desert guide, dinner with ethnic (traditional North-African) drumming, singing and dancing around the fire, overnight in authentic nomad Berber tents. Optional sand boarding, star-gazing or sleeping under the stars.
Day three - Merzouga to Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou: Early morning sunrise 1.5 hour camel ride, breakfast and depart back to Ouarzazate through Rissani, Tazarine, Agdez and other Berber villages, traditional Moroccan lunch at Agdz, optional visit to Atlas Film Studios, overnight Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou (UNESCO world heritage site).
Day four - Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou to Marrakech: After breakfast, guided tour of Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou. Depart back to Marrakech with traditional Moroccan lunch on the Tizi n’Tichka Atlas Mountain pass. Late afternoon / early evening arrival back in Marrakech, drop off at your riad.
